Thursday Sips & Nibbles: Part 2

Here is a last minute addition to the usual Thursday Sips & Nibbles column. Due to the timing of this event, I could not wait to post it next Thursday.

5) During the second week of August, from Monday, August 8–Saturday, August 13, Turner Fisheries will donate 10% of all sales to the New England Aquarium to help support its Sustainable Seafood Programs. In addition, 10% of the proceeds from any private events booked in one of Turner Fisheries’ private dining rooms throughout the month of August will also be donated. Simply enter the promo code “Aquarium” when booking your event.

"The New England Aquarium's Sustainable Seafood Programs aim to protect the world's ocean resources by raising public awareness and by working with the seafood industry to advance sustainable practices within wild-capture fisheries and aquaculture operations. The program’s Celebrate Seafood outreach initiatives focus on educating and empowering individuals to make ocean friendly seafood choices."

This effort is part of Turner Fisheries’ 2011 Charitable Giving Campaign in which the restaurant will support deserving local charities and organizations throughout the course of the year. Since the program launched in May, Turner’s has raised close to $15,000 for local organizations including the Boston Medical Center, Good Sports and the SHADE Foundation.
