Are you interested in free lamb and chocolate, or more specifically two new books dealing with those topics? In conjunction with the Hachette Book Group, I am hosting a special contest where up to three of my readers can win the two books pictured above.
The first book is How to Roast a Lamb by Michael Psilakis and Barbara Kafka, which deals with New Greek Classic Cooking. The second book is Chocolate: A Love Story by Max Brenner and Yonatan Factor, which contains 65 chocolate recipes. Max Brenner, a chocolate store/restaurant, has two locations in New York City. These two books are worth over $60. They are new hardcover books and sound very interesting.
All you have to do to enter this contest is to post a comment, telling me either your favorite Greek dish or chocolate dish. Very simple. The only caveats are that you must be either a U.S. or Canadian resident, and you must be able to provide a mailing address other than a P.O. Box.
As an added bonus, if you include a recipe in your comment, you will gain an extra two entries into the contest.
Depending on the amount of entries, one to three winners will be randomly selected. Each winner will receive copies of both books. The more people that enter, the more winners that will be selected.
This contest will run for 2 weeks, ending at midnight on November 18, 2009.

ReplyDeleteWhen I visited Greece, I couldn't get enough of the fresh tzatziki and the galaktoboureka (although not together - that would be gross). I hate yogurt, but tzatziki is probably the only way I'll eat it.
For lamb, I love grilling it after marinating it in a combination of mustard, apple cider vinegar, frozen apple juice concentrate, spices, and rosemary (full recipe here.

ReplyDeleteI love to make my own taziki sauce, with greek yogurt, olive oil, vinegar, salt and lots and lots of garlic. My trick is to use red wine vinegar. I don't know how it does it, but it tastes so much better.

ReplyDeleteMy family is Greek on my mom's side. And as much as I love Greek food, I love Greek desserts more. My favorite has to be kourambiedes.
Favorite chocolate dessert is a chocolate caramel tart I made recently. Literally couldn't stop nibbling on it.

My favorite Greek recipe was from a tiny Greek restaurant in Charleston, SC. They made wonderful pan fried potatoes and onions using a combination of Greek spices (that they mixed and sold there in the restaurant!). They were delicious.
ReplyDeleteFavorite chocolate: Indulgent Dulce de Leche Chocolate Dessert, combining a decadent chocolate brownie like cake, dulce de leche, and topped with chocolate ganache...all together, melt in your mouth delicious!
definitely fried sardines.... and moussaka..... and taramosalata....I really don't know where to stop. The best experience though is when you are in Greece you go into the kitchen (and yes it is encouraged) and look into the oven and into all pots and pans.... absolutely great.
ReplyDeletemy fav chocolate dish...hmmmmm: Sweet Melissa's chocolate soufle cake - you put it into the oven reheat it and then I serve it with whiped cream and warm mixed berries.. Since I discovered this cake I don't even bother to create one myself ---thank you Sweet Melissa
When we were in Australia at Manly Beach we went to a Greek restaurant owned by a South African Chef. I had an appetizer that was just plain grilled octopus. It was so tender and delicious. My favorite chocolate dessert is a brownie with vanilla ice cream.

My husband is Greek, so we spent alot of time there visiting his family. I would say my fav Greek dish is grilled octupus. Walking in Crete, you would see the fresh caught octopus hanginign from the the front of the restruants, yummy

My ex husband is Greek and we spent a lot of time there! My two favorite dishes are grilled octopus and believe it or not Kokoretsi! I didn't realize what was in Kokoretsi for years but I still love it.

Having studied in the Greek islands for four months back in 2006, I have plenty of FAVORITE Greek recipes. If I had to choose one though, I'd definitely choose the stuffed grape leaves or "Dolmades", made fresh at a local taverna.
