As I was in the Waltham area yesterday, I decided to check out this lunch special as several items on the menu appealed to me. And it was a great choice as I enjoyed a delicious meal, and it's tempting to return again to try more items on the menu.
I began with the Bruschetta, receiving three slices of a crusty bread topped with a nice smear of goat cheese and plenty of roasted tomatoes. The creamy goat cheese was nicely balanced with the acidity of the tomatoes, and the flavors were enhanced with the basil and with roasted tomato, goat cheese, basil, and slightly sweet vincotto. It was a hearty-sized first course but I made sure to finish all three tasty pieces.
The Pork Milanese was also an ample size, with a nice crisp coating and plenty of gooey mozzarella. The pork itself was tender and flavorful and I thoroughly enjoyed every single piece. The spaetzle and oven-cured tomatoes added to the dish, and I'd love to see the spaetzle starring in its own dish. I'd highly recommend this dish if you have the holiday lunch menu.
For dessert, I chose the Apple crostata with a flaky and sweet pastry shell, thinly sliced apples, and the subtly spiced cinnamon streusel ice cream. The black tea caramel sauce was also more subtle with its tea flavor. Together, all of the different flavors meshed well, a fine ending to my lunch.
Osteria Posto never disappoints and this holiday lunch menu is an excellent way to sample the wonders of this suburban restaurant.
