1) Chef Jason Santos and Chef Paul Krato will host a Westward Whiskey Dinner at Buttermilk & Bourbon, Arsenal Yards in Watertown, on Monday, November 14th. Kicking off at 6 p.m., guests will enjoy passed apps and a welcome cocktail followed by a seated four-course meal paired with Westward's selection of single malt, Oregon-based whiskeys.

The food menu will include:
Passed Course: Bacon & Jalapeno- wrapped shrimp with smoked salmon hush puppies

2nd Course: Crispy-Skinned Salmon with broken rice middlins, satsuma butter, shaved vegetable salad
3rd Course: Bourbon-Braised Pork Cheeks with sweet potato puree, brussels sprouts, candied pecans
4th Course: Chocolate-Bourbon Pecan Pie with Westward Stout whipped cream

Tickets cost $70 per person and can be purchased HERE

2) The holiday season is right around the corner and Kane’s Donuts has three new flavors for November, including the Lord Hobo Cranberry Sour Donut, Pumpkin Cheesecake Donut, and the Apple Cider Donut.

The Lord Hobo Cranberry Sour Donut is a light and fluffy yeast donut, dipped in a glaze made from reduced Lord Hobo Cranberry Sour and Kane’s signature honey glaze with a final drizzle of orange fruit icing. The Pumpkin Cheesecake Donut is a cake style pumpkin donut, made with pumpkin fruit, fresh ground cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Drenched in Kane’s signature honey glaze the donut is then topped with their delicious cheesecake frosting and festive sprinkles. Finally, the Apple Cider Donut is infused with real fresh local cider from Brooksby Farm. This cake style donut is loaded with spices and apple cider, then rolled in cinnamon and sugar.

And while on the topic of donuts, let's revive a 100+ year old Thanksgiving tradition: serving donuts on your Thanksgivng table. Why not purchase some Kane's donuts and bring them to Thanksgiving with you.

3) A Sake tasting in Melrose! On Thursday, November 17, from 4:30pm-7pm, Todd Bellomy of Farthest Star Sake, which is located in Medfield, Massachusetts, will be sampling his two bottled Sakes at Beacon Hill Wine & Gourmet in Melrose. The tasting includes In A Strange Land (a Junmai), and Mountains On The Moon (a Nigori), both available in 207ml bottles. This is the only Sake brewery in Massachusetts, and one of only about 20 or so Sake breweries in the entire U.S. I've tasted both of these Sakes and I recommend you come to this event to sample some locally produced Sake. They are delicious on their own, but also pair well with a variety of foods. Hope to see you next Thursday!
