Thursday Sips & Nibbles

I'm back again with a new edition of Sips & Nibbles, my regular column where I highlight some interesting, upcoming food and drink events. I hope everyone dines out safely, tips well and are nice to their servers.

1) On Wednesday, November 6, at 6:30 PM, Lucille Wine Shop & Tasting Room will host a five-course tasting menu of traditional Alsatian cuisine prepared by Chef Justin Shoults. Inspired by Lucille owner Sarah Marshall’s recent travels, this one-night-only experience will pair regional Alsatian fare with wines from Alsace’s top producers.

Sarah Marshall opened Lucille Wine Shop & Tasting Room in Downtown Lynn in 2020. In June 2024, she opened Lucy at Burlington’s Common Craft. Sarah’s hospitality background includes leadership roles at Cambridge’s Oleanna and Boston’s L’Espalier. Chef Justin Shoults is a New England-based chef who has cooked in high-end restaurants around the globe, as well as Boston-area Craigie on Main and Oak and Rowan.

Menu
  • Onion Tartlet with smoked bacon, crème fraîche, and Comte.
  • Smoked Trout Pâté with mauricette pretzel, cucumber, and dill.
  • Brown Butter Spaetzle with roasted mushrooms, crispy shallots, and muenster cream.
  • Choucroute Garnie with pork belly, ham hock, black sausage, chive potatoes, and riesling kraut.
  • Apple Strudel with calvados-soaked raisins and vanilla crème anglaise.
Tickets to Supper Club: A Taste of Alsace cost $150 per person. The price includes a five-course menu with five wine pairings, tax, and gratuity. Because of the collaborative nature of the event, full payment is due at the time of booking and is nonrefundable. However, you are absolutely able to transfer your ticket to someone else. 2) Prezza, one of my favorite North End restaurants, now launches ‘Petite Portions,’ a weekly initiative that will consist of some of guests’ favorite dishes in a smaller size, available Sunday through Thursday from 4-5 pm and Mondays from 4-9 pm.

The ‘Petite Portion’ menu will feature a selection of cold appetizers including Half a Dozen Oysters, Tuna Tartare, Buffalo Mozzarella two ways, and two salad options. Hot appetizers include gourmet Meatballs, Crispy Shrimp, and Spicy Mussels. Handmade pasta options will include season specialties and Prezza classics like Butternut Squash Ravioli with lobster brown butter, Pear Ravioli, Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Gemelli Cacio e Pepe, Gnocchi “a la Bolognese,” and Raviolo di Uovo. From the oven comes Homemade Meatballs, Halibut, Scallops, and a Fish Stew. Lastly, Prezza will be offering Wood-Grilled Swordfish, Grilled Branzino, and Sliced Sirloin.
