Spanish Vacation: Fuente de la Acena

Day Three continued...
Lunch today was at the Fuente de la Acena restaurant, located in the village of Quintanilla de Onesimo, on the Duero River. The restaurant is inside a hotel which was once an old water mill. The restaurant is decorated simply but elegantly and it has some great outside views of the river.

We ended up being the only people in the restaurant for lunch. Though we had some unwelcome guests which I will discuss later on in this post.

Our lunch consisted of:

Appetizer courses:
---Salmon with fig paste
---Calamari Stuffed Peppers
---Assorted Sliced Hams/Sausages
---Pickled Foie Gras
---Boletus Mushrooms sauteed with King Prawns

For the main course, we had two choices and ordered one of each.
---Cod Pil-Pil over vegetables on Rataouille
---Roast Suckling Pig glazed with roasted apples

Dessert consisted of Cheese Mousse with Cherry ice cream.

Our wine was a 2004 Mauro.

Now, the food was good but one thing ruined the meal for us. We were pestered throughout our meal by a number of flies and the restaurant did nothing about it. They did not even acknowledge there was a problem. The servers were rather cold and impersonal, almost robotic. This luckily was the only real problem during our entire two-week trip. In any trip of such a length, there are bound to be at least a few problems somewhere. But, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
