Day Five continued...
After our two winery visits, it was time for another multicourse lunch. Our destination today was Los Calaos De Briones. This is a small hotel and restaurant located in the center of the town of Briones. The restaurant is in the cellar, which dates back to the 17th century. You can see in the picture above how interesting the restaurant looks. Great ambience.
As we drank a glass of chilled Cava, they brought the first course, a plate of thin sliced ham and sausages. Delicious, as usual. The second course was an Atlantic Crab Salad, an intriguing mix of crab with a side salad. Lots of crabmeat and it was a tasty dish.
Our wine for the meal was the 2003 Roda I Reserva, a Tempranillo based red wine with a bit of Graciano. This was a very good wine with a lot of spice flavors.
The next course consisted of some fried ham slices with a side of sweet and hot slices. There were also prawns in their own intriguing sauce. Both were delicious too.
The main entree was the Traditional-style Lamb Chops. These were phenomenal. They were tender, juicy and spiced just right. We had several chops and I could have eaten an entire rack of those chops. Once again, I was amazed at how delicious Spaniards could make lamb.
Dessert consisted of ice cream with cheese cake and marshmallows. Also quite delicious.
This is definitely another restaurant that I would recommend.
