The small Cape Cod town of Truro will soon be celebrating their Tricentennial.
As co-sponsors of the year-long, 300th anniversary of the date the town was founded, Truro Vineyards will release two commemorative wines in May. Pinot Grigio Truro 1709 and Merlot Truro 1709 will be available in limited quantities at the winery, in select wine shops, and in a growing number of Boston and Cape Cod restaurants.
Pinot Grigio Truro 1709 is supposed to be refreshing and crisp with aromas of citrus and almonds, similar to its Italian relatives. It is light enough to pair with fish or seafood, but assertive and balanced enough to stand up to simple chicken dishes. It retails for $17.99.
Merlot Truro 1709 is supposed to be unlike any of the ho-hum merlots on the market. It is fruity and complex with flavors of plum, cherry and a hint of vanilla. Smooth finish. Priced at $24.99, its distinctive lighthouse label was painted by Truro artist Robert Cardinal.
These wines, and the vineyards’ first-ever estate bottled chardonnay (produced in a limited edition of 300 cases) can be sampled daily in Truro Vineyards’ spectacular new tasting pavilion, and twice-daily winery tours are held Memorial Day thru Columbus Day.

I haven't tasted their wines recently and need to do so. Do you have a light white that you would recommend?

The Sauvignon Blanc and the Unoaked Chardonnay are both crisp, fruity, dry and really pleasant.
