I am back again with a new edition of Thursday Sips & Nibbles, my regular column where I highlight some interesting, upcoming food & drink events..

1) On Sunday, March 22, at 5pm, River Bar in Assembly Row will host a five-course dinner with local and international cider pairings. At the From New England to Normandy Cider Dinner, Executive Chef Patrick Gilmartin and Bread & Salt’s Kate Holowchik will join forces to dish out a quintet of culinary creations that will be paired with selections from the orchards of New England’s Farnum Hill Ciders and France’s Domaine Dupont.
Since the 1980s, Farnum Hill Ciders has been at the forefront of the American cider revival with their commitment to revitalizing the growth of heirloom apples in the United States. Domaine Dupont uses no less than 13 different varieties of cider apple In order to reach perfect balance in its ciders and calvados from Normandy’s Pays d'Auge terroir.
The menu will be presented as follows, alongside delicious cider pairings from Farnum Hill Ciders and Domaine Dupont:
FIRST COURSE
Scallop Crudo (sauerkraut, mustard vinaigrette, caviar, crepe)
SECOND COURSE
Cured Duck Egg Raviolo (rhubarb & pear jus)
THIRD COURSE
Roasted Monkfish (coitrade sauce, leek & buckwheat tart)
FOURTH COURSE
Black Bean Cured Rib Roast (buckwheat & kimchi gnudi, apple & chervil demi)
DESSERT COURSE
Kouign Amann (roasted white chocolate ice cream, cider poached apples, streusel crumble, salted juniper caramel, apple sage curd)
