Thursday Sips & Nibbles

I am back again with a new edition of Thursday Sips & Nibbles, my regular column where I highlight some interesting, upcoming food & drink events.
**********************************************************
1) There are a number of ways to celebrate Leap Day, and the Seaport Hotel is honoring the holiday’s unique tradition in its own way. As you know, in Irish folklore, women would ignore custom and propose to men. While the world has moved past the confines of gender or other antiquated definitions of who can do what – Leap Day is still a popular day for weddings and proposals.

Dinner at an intimate table in front of one of the hotel’s fireplaces at TAMO Bistro + Bar is an excellent spot to pop the question, and Seaport is offering to help make Leap Day proposals extra special by adding a complimentary night stay at the hotel complete with a rose petal covered bed and Dampierre champagne from 1988 (also a leap year!). Those planning to get down on one knee and take a “leap” of faith at TAMO will be entered into a drawing to be one of two lucky couples to receive the room and champagne (if more than two pairs of lovebirds opt in, the drawing will take place at the end of next week).

To make reservations, please contact 617-385-4304.

2) The Boston Harbor Hotel’s 31st annual Boston Wine Festival is excited to host the first-ever Mediterranean Reception featuring inspired wines and food from throughout Europe. On Thursday, March 12, from 7pm-10pm, there will be a walk-around reception that offers over 50 pours from coastal countries in Europe including Spain, Southern France, Portugal, and Italy.

Enjoy food inspired by the Mediterranean prepared by the Boston Wine Festival founder and Executive Chef Daniel Bruce. Be immersed in the wine world that the Mediterranean Basin has to offer while listening to live entertainment by pianist Joe Barbato, sipping delicious old-world wines, and indulging in a lavish buffet.

Please also note that Croatian Premium Wine Imports will be presenting some of their wines at this event, so this is an excellent opportunity to taste their wines with some Croatian-inspired food.

Cost: Tickets to the Mediterranean Reception are $110 per person For tickets, please visit the bostonwinefestival.net.

3) On Thursday, March 12, from 5:30pm-8:30pm, gather in the street-level bistro and help Bistro du Midi’s Executive Chef Robert Sisca reach his Boston Marathon fundraising goal. Tickets to the event include complimentary hors d'oeuvres and raw bar, the chance to sip on a "Finish Line" cocktail, and a charity raffle. 100% of proceeds will be donated to Team Joslin, working to find a cure for diabetes.

Chef Robert has watched thousands cross the Boston Marathon finish line right near Bistro du Midi over the years. The runners’ faces of success, gratitude and pride supporting incredible organizations have always inspired him to one day run the marathon. With the support of his wife, twin boys and his Bistro du Midi team, all of whom understand what it feels like to lose loved ones to diabetes, Chef has committed himself to running the 2020 Boston Marathon for Team Joslin!

All of the money raised by Team Joslin supports the High Hopes Fund at Joslin Diabetes Center working to prevent, treat and cure diabetes through cutting-edge research, comprehensive patient care and pioneering education programs.

Tickets are $10 dollars per person and can be purchased here. For more information and to donate directly to Robert's goal: https://charity.gofundme.com/o/en/campaign/joslin-boston2020/robertsisca
