Thursday Sips & Nibbles

I'm back again with a new edition of Sips & Nibbles, my regular column where I highlight some interesting, upcoming food and drink events. I hope everyone dines out safely, tips well and are nice to their servers.

1) Rosa Mexicano Restaurants has opened a new location at the Burlington Mall. The new restaurant, helmed by Chef Francis Santos, will feature various seating areas, including total seating for 225, a 14-person bar, and ample outdoor seating on the patio.

The menu offers a "contemporary interpretation of authentic Mexican cuisine" featuring classics and innovative, that "pay tribute to Mexico's richly varied culinary regions." Rosa Mexicano's beverage program has over 100 varieties of tequila and agave-based spirits.

Josefina Howard, our founding chef, opened the first Rosa Mexicano in 1984, winning over loyal fans with her authentic Mexican fine dining, creative bar and spirits program, and signature warm hospitality,” said Rosa Mexicano CEO Jim Dunn. “Today, we are excited to join Burlington Mall and continue her legacy by introducing a fresh take on authentic Mexican food and fine dining Mexican fare in the Burlington area.”

For Father’s Day,  all Rosa Mexicano locations will honor all the great dads with a meal on them - dad's entree is complimentary with entree purchases for the rest of the party.

2) Summer is right around the corner and Kane’s Donuts has new flavors in June to celebrate, including the Triple Chocolate Donut, the Snickers® Donut and the Butter Pecan Donut.

The Triple Chocolate Donut is a rich chocolate, cake style donut, frosted with Kane’s homemade, decadent, creamy, chocolate frosting, then dipped in chocolate sprinkles. The Snickers  Donut is a yeast style donut with milk chocolate frosting and topped with crushed Snickers  and peanuts with a caramel swirl to top it off. Kane’s Butter Pecan Donut is a light, airy, yeast style donut, with buttery, creamy, frosting topped with pecans.

3) Recently reopened in Somerville, R.F. O’Sullivan & Son’s has debuted a new “Name of the Week” special that can score you a BOGO burger if your name is selected. Each Sunday, the iconic burger joint will announce a first name on both their Instagram channel (@rfosullivanandson) as well as on an A-frame chalkboard sign outside of the entrance. If your ID is a match, you’ll be treated to a complimentary burger with the purchase of one.

The hand-formed patties cover more classic preparations like The Celtic with lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon, pickles and American cheese; BBQ with bacon, onion rings, pickles, bourbon BBQ and cheddar; Bloody Mary with tomato, onion, bacon and sriracha; The Pub with lettuce, onion, tomato and mayo; and Mushroom & Swiss with horseradish pepper sauce. Twists on the basic burger are seen in The Greek with lettuce, tomato, onion, tzatziki, roasted red pepper and feta; Don’t Poke the Bear with bacon, maple bacon glaze, fried egg and cheddar; Bacon & Blue with crumbled blue cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo; The Green Monstah with chipotle mayo, lettuce, pickles, beer cheese, sauteed onions and peppers; The Krabby Patty with pineapple, lettuce, onion, pepper jack cheese and a sweet ginger glaze; and The Impossible, a plant-based patty topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle.
