Thursday Sips & Nibbles

I am back again with a new edition of Thursday Sips & Nibbles, my regular column where I highlight some interesting, upcoming food & drink events.
**********************************************************
1) On Wednesday, March 11, starting at 6pm, The Smoke Shop BBQ in Kendall Square will take over in hosting Pitmaster Andy Husbands’ legendary pig roast, originally held at Tremont 647 in the South End. Attendees will find themselves fully immersed in the flavors of the tropical cuisine in Cuba, as Andy and his team incorporate Cuban flavors and other delicacies into the evening’s menu.

Beginning at 6pm, guests will be welcomed with a classic Cuban cocktail and snacks such as Cubanos, Costillitas (baby back ribs), Vaca Frita, and Shrimp with Plantain Chips. After cocktail hour, a family style dinner will be served starring a Smoked Hog, prepared with mojo and tortilla. The night will end on a sweet note with a Cuban Flan. Throughout the evening, guests can also enjoy an array of drinks from the bar’s extensive collection including Privateer Mojitos, whiskey, beer, and craft cocktails.

Tickets for the event are $37.50, and include a signature event cocktail, appetizers and a family style dinner. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.

2) Osteria Posto and Posto Bedford are introducing Half Pizzas and Panuozzo, open faced wood fired bread sandwiches. Each location will have their own selection of Half Pizzas, 14 choices at Posto Bedford and 10 choices ($9-$11.50) at Osteria Posto, including both Red & White pizzas. I'm a big fan of their Neapolitan-style pizzas and having the option of ordering just a half pizza sounds great to me. As for Panuozzo, you'll find 8 choices ($12-$14) at Posto Bedford and 7 choices ($13-$16) at Osteria Posto. At Posto Bedford, the online menu states the Panuozzo comes with French Fries. Personally, I'm hoping to check out their new items soon.
