Da Vinci Ristorante: Champagne Gelato

Da Vinci Ristorante's Chef Peppino is embracing the crisp and celebratory holiday months with a festive treat: Champagne Gelato. Available by special request only during the months of December and January, Chef Peppino has combined two of everybody’s favorite ingredients—bubbly and ice cream—to bring us a perfectly refreshing sweet… With a twist.

Toast the holidays at Da Vinci this season by enjoying their signature 3-course menu (available nightly for $33.09 per person). Start or finish the meal with this taste of decadence and spirit! Cost is $9 per serving.

Chef Peppino has long experimented successfully with distinctive gelato flavors, including serving his signature Lobster Gelato, Beef Carpaccio with Celery Sorbetti and Shaved Parmiggiano and his Creamy Gorgonzola Gelato served on top of a Poached Pear. Other savory Gelato flavors have included Arugula and Basil.

Champagne Gelato
(makes 4 servings)
2 large eggs
2 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup milk
2 1/2 cups Champagne
2 oz. raisins (chopped)

Method
Boil champagne with cream and milk and strain after. Add the rest of the ingredients and put in ice cream machine and grain. Top with fresh mint sprig. Enjoy!
