UPDATE: Due to unforeseen construction issues on the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza, the Beehive opening of “The BEEch” will be postponed until May 24, 2008. All below information will be relevant for that date
May 17 will mark both the first anniversary of the The Beehive as well as the opening of the BEEch. The BEEch will be their unique take on outdoor dining in Boston.
The BEEch will be an 80 seat outdoor dining addition on the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza. It will focus on an “urban picnic theme” in which diners will be seated and handed a menu of freshly prepared casual gourmet items to choose from. Once customers have selected their items, the wait staff will return with these culinary treasures in packages and jars along with fresh bread tucked in picnic baskets to share.
The BEEch will be open seven days a week, from 5pm-11pm, serving items such as Lobster Cocktail ($18), Spiced Hummus with olive oil, lemon and tahini ($9) and Picnic Chicken ($14). They will also have a weekend Brunch from 10:30am–3pm with a decidedly more “brunchy” approach in fare. A full bar menu will be offered along with pitchers of Sangria, Margaritas and Spiked Ice-T, and no reservations are accepted.
The BEEch opens officially on May 17 at 10:30am and in classic “kitch” -or what has become true Beehive nature- the opening will be co-promoted by the Boston’s Derby Dames in full skate attire skating throughout the South End and signing autographs on site! The Derby Dames will be on site 12pm–2pm and 4pm-7pm.
Let us hope it is a sunny day on their grand opening.
