Have you ever tasted a Manga? Well, Mangas are not really for tasting. Manga is the Japanese word for comic book and they are extremely popular in Japan. They are read by men and women of all ages. Their popularity has spread so that they are also very popular in the U.S. I read a few manga, especially historical epics such as Lone Wolf and Cub. But what does any of this have to do with wine?
I recently ran into a clever article called Manga Tasting on Otaku USA. The article was written by By Jason Thompson with Jake Forbes and Ryan Sands. It gives instructions on how to review manga, but treats it as if it were wine! They talk about the appearance of the manga, its nose, how it is on the palate. They even have a manga wheel that is similar to the familiar wine aroma wheel.
They have provided some reviews of eight manga, all of which are the type of reviews you would see for wine. If you just read the review you might not even know they were talking about manga. This article was very cleverly written and is well worth reading.
