Taste of the NFL & Chez Henri

It has been a great year to be a sports fan in Boston. First, the Red Sox won the world series. Now, the New England Patriots have gone undefeated in the pre-season and look good to win the Superbowl.

Superbowl XLII will be held on February 3 in Arizona and I hope the Patriots are there. One local person who will be there is Chef Paul O'Connell of Chez Henri in Cambridge. Chef O'Connell has been invited, for the fifth consecutive year, to cook at the Taste of the NFL.

The Taste of the NFL is an annual event where a chef is invited to represent each NFL team. The event is held on the eve before the Superbowl. Each chef cooks up a special dish and the public is invited to taste all of these culinary delights. All of the ticket proceeds go to charity, to America’s Second Harvest, a national anti-hunger clearinghouse that funnels money to organizations across the country who feed the needy.

Tickets are not cheap, starting at $500, but it does go to a very worthy charity. Plus, you need to be in Arizona on the night before the Superbowl. Unfortunately, I won't be there to attend.

Chef O’Connell, representing the Patriots, plans to make Smoked Cod & Lobster Chowder with Chile-Lime Butter. Now that sounds delicious, especially in the winter. I love a good chowder, like fish, clam or corn chowder. If you want to try the chowder though, you won't have to go to Arizona.

This Saturday night, Chez Henri is hosting a special "Tailgate To Go” menu. You can eat at the bar and watch the Patriots game on their 50” T.V. You can get the Smoked Cod and Lobster Chowder. I have not eaten there before so I don't know what the food is like. I have read good things about it though and I do find the menu interesting. And how can Smoked Cod & Lobster Chowder not be good?
